Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Rolling Pin
  • Pastry brush
  • Knife or pizza cutter

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry store-bought, thawed
  • 1/2 cup Nutella or any chocolate-hazelnut spread
  • 1 egg for egg wash
  • 1 tablespoon milk for egg wash
  • Powdered sugar optional, for dusting

Instructions

Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Puff Pastry:

  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet to smooth it out. You can leave it as a single sheet or cut it into squares or rectangles, depending on your preferred size.

Add Nutella:

  • Spread a generous layer of Nutella on one half of the puff pastry, leaving a small border around the edges. Fold the pastry over the Nutella to form a pocket and press the edges together to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.
  • Apply Egg Wash:
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and milk to create the egg wash. Brush the tops of the pastries with the egg wash to help them brown nicely.

Bake:

  • Place the pastries on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.

Cool and Serve:

  • Remove from the oven and let the pastries cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar if desired and serve warm.

Notes

You can customize these pastries by adding sliced bananas or strawberries with the Nutella for an extra fruity twist.
Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in the oven for a few minutes to regain crispness.
