Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Skillet (for cooking bacon)
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Spatula

Ingredients

  • 1 lb frozen or fresh French fries
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese or a mix of cheeses
  • 4 slices bacon cooked and crumbled
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 green onions sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: jalapeños diced tomatoes, or guacamole

Instructions

Cook the Fries:

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and bake the French fries according to the package instructions, or until crispy and golden brown. For fresh fries, cut potatoes into thin strips, coat with oil, and bake for 25-30 minutes, turning halfway.

Cook the Bacon:

  • While the fries are baking, cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Remove from the skillet, drain on paper towels, and crumble once cooled.

Add the Cheese:

  • Once the fries are fully cooked, remove them from the oven and immediately sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the top. Return the fries to the oven for 3-5 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted.

Top the Fries:

  • Remove the fries from the oven and transfer them to a serving platter. Top with crumbled bacon, dollops of sour cream, and sliced green onions.

Serve:

  • Serve the loaded fries hot and enjoy immediately. Add additional toppings like jalapeños, diced tomatoes, or guacamole if desired.

Notes

For an extra crispy texture, try double-baking the fries: bake them halfway, remove them from the oven, let cool, and bake again until extra crispy.
You can customize these loaded fries with your favorite toppings, such as pulled pork, chili, or BBQ sauce for a heartier meal.
Use sweet potato fries for a healthier alternative.
