Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Fork or spatula
  • Food processor (optional, for a smoother texture)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup smoked fish such as mackerel, trout, or salmon, flaked
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp sour cream
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill chopped (or 1 tsp dried dill)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce optional, for extra kick
  • Crackers toasted bread, or fresh veggies for serving

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients:

  • Flake the smoked fish into small pieces using a fork. Set aside.

Mix the Dip:

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, and sour cream. Use a fork or spatula to mix until smooth.
  • Add the lemon juice, dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine.

Add the Fish:

  • Gently fold the flaked smoked fish into the cream cheese mixture. Mix until everything is evenly combined. If using a food processor, pulse a few times to blend, but leave some texture in the dip.

Adjust Seasoning:

  • Taste the dip and adjust the seasoning if needed. Add hot sauce if you prefer a spicy dip.

Chill and Serve:

  • Refrigerate the fish dip for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Serve chilled with crackers, toasted bread, or fresh vegetables.
